The Community Housing Group signs up to 'Women into Construction'

As a company the Group has joined the Women Into Construction initiative, a not-for-profit organisation backed by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

We want to recruit and develop the best people for our jobs and we are keen to improve gender diversity by recruiting and developing more women into traditionally male dominated roles as well as recruiting more men into traditionally female roles.

Women into Construction’s vision is to change the face of the construction sector and normalise the position of women within the industry. Joining  ‘Women into Construction’ means we will be actively promoted on their website where women are able to access training and advice, opportunities for work placements with expenses paid and get support to access and apply for job vacancies via member websites, such as ours.

We already work with local schools and colleges, promoting apprenticeships as well as other career opportunities and in 2020 the Worcestershire Careers Hub are looking to pilot a Women into Construction event in the Wyre Forest, which could potentially go countywide.  We also aim to be part of the Worcestershire Annual Skills Show 2020 as part of the Women into Construction section.

Proposals were launched at the recent Oakleaf Contractor’s Seminar which were well received by all who attended.
