Oakleaf 100 mile cycle challenge
Congratulations to the 4 man team from Oakleaf Grounds Services and their support crew on their 2 day, 100 mile cycle ride from Bewdley to Aberystwyth.
The team of four were Simon Fairbanks, Luke Roberts, Allen McDougal and Keith Burgess along with the support from Michelle and Russ Taylor. The route covered an impressive 102.6 miles over two days and climbed a total of 5,897 feet on their journey. They had an overnight stop in Rhayader and a ride through the picturesque Elan Valley before reaching the pier in Aberystwyth.
They were supported by their crew who drove the support vehicle ensuring they checked in regularly with the group, providing them with much needed refreshments.
Keith Burgess, Executive Business Manager for Oakleaf Grounds Services, commented: “The trip was planned for fun, as a team building effort and to promote physical activity. It was a great achievement by all who took part and very much a team effort but without team captain Taylor and her dad, we would have struggled. They organised us, fed and watered us, as well as planning the whole thing so deserves an extra special mention.
“We are looking forward to next year already and making the ride or something similar, an annual event.”
